about

A Laid-back hip-hop/funk groove and Saskia's muted horn, spacious improvising throughout the song: this track is about travelling, about going places, about crossing distances and concepts of time and space. American performer Ghasem Batamuntu's poetic voice will tell you all about it in the track--how wide the horizon is in California and how narrow across the canal in Amsterdam. When the song goes to the bridge, Rob Gaasterland can be heard rap-singing, "WHERE'RE YOU GOING M'AM?". In addition, the song travels into the clouds and features Gaasterland's tasty space synths, chased by a contrasting hard groove.

lyrics

(Ghasem:)
Transporting yourself places
And you, if its a big place you have to go
A long.. that's what I like about Amsterdam
You walk five minutes
You wait less than ten minutes for a tram
Then you're where you need to be
In ten or fifteen minutes

And it makes it so
It's much more relaxing
You need to try it
That was on of the first things I noticed here
The amount of time and space in traffic
With a conception of a space

(Rob:)
Where're you going m'am
Where're you going
Where're you going m'am

(Ghasem:)
Space, openly and distance
And places consuming more time
You will have to notice
There are maybe mountains
Relaxing must it be
Very open space mountains

With a concept of space
Openly and distant
And moving through that space
Consuming more time
So I grew up in very open spaces, mountains
And then one day I thought again
I really thought about it and saw what this is
And how I where I grew up was that
You grew up and then all that time
And I then saw that contrast
It's so much
That's what I like about Amsterdam
Plus you when you look
And that might be for seven miles
Instead of fifty or hundred meters
Across the canal or I might look
Down the canals,
That might be my greatest
Concept of distance
Is looking down the canals
